Sport

Every child is Woodford NS is encouraged to participate in sporting activities and emphasis is placed on participation and enjoyment in all activities.  We have a large selection of sports equipment in the school and throughout the year have offered many sports, such as camogie, hurling, soccer and basketball! 



Over the years Woodford have been successful in Cumann na mBunscol competitions.  Mr. Dervan trains both the hurling and camogie teams.


Congratulations to two of our sixth class pupils, Gavin and GearĂ³id, who were part of the Tommy Larkins U14 hurling panel who beat St. Thomas' in the county final on Wednesday, 3rd of June.Well done, lads!

Also, a number of our pupils will be playing in a camogie semi final with Davitts next week.  Best of luck girls!!


Huge congratulations to the four pupils from our school who were involved in winning the U11 Midlands Soccer League with Portumna Town FC.  Unbeaten in 18 games!!

                    Tennis                             
 This year we introduced tennis into the school. Our tennis coach, Kieran Galvin, comes to our school once a week for 5 weeks for anyone who wants to do it. Kieran teaches us the different techniques and does some fun games too.
